Neakasa M1 Compatible Litter: What to Check

Check the Neakasa M1 litter requirements, particle limits, fill range and calibration before choosing a formula or changing litter.

For the Neakasa M1, start with fast clumping bentonite or mineral litter in small granules. Neakasa's M1 support guidance gives a maximum particle diameter of 3 mm and length of 10 mm. Check the exact model and its instructions before choosing a formula.

Confirm that your machine is the M1

Read the model label and use the matching manual. Keep M1, M1 Lite and M1 Plus instructions separate. Similar names and shared product pages do not establish that every setting or litter recommendation applies to your unit.

The Neakasa support centre links to its M1 manual. If your supplied instructions differ, ask Neakasa which version applies to your machine.

What to check on a litter bag

The M1 litter support article identifies three useful checks:

Check M1 guidance Before buying
Clumping Fast clumping, granular litter Confirm that the finished formula clumps, rather than relying on its main ingredient.
Material Bentonite and mineral litter are supported Check additional ingredients and obtain model specific advice for other blends.
Particle dimensions Up to 3 mm in diameter and 10 mm in length Check both dimensions, including the longest pieces.

Particle size is a screening check, not a complete performance test. Clean granules need to separate from waste, while formed clumps need to remain together. Our granule size guide explains that distinction.

Do not assume every tofu blend is suitable

Neakasa's M1 support article advises against tofu litter and blends containing tofu. Its broader litter selection blog discusses a fine tofu blend, so the public advice is not fully consistent. Before using one, obtain confirmation for your exact machine and formula.

First fill and calibration

The M1 manual shows a marked fill range from 50% to 100%. Keep litter within that range, use the levelling function and recalibrate the litter level when changing litter type. The instructions also require a flat, hard surface and no objects resting on the machine.

Use the cleaning settings in your applicable manual and app. Do not assume a longer delay can make an unsupported litter suitable.

Observe the first cycles

Look at what reaches the waste drawer and what remains in the bed. Clean granules being discarded, broken clumps or residue each deserve attention. Check the fill level and current instructions before changing several things at once.

If the M1 continues leaving residue, Neakasa's lining support guidance recommends reviewing the litter and contacting support if the problem remains. Avoid treating repeated machine faults as a litter preference issue.

Keep your cat's acceptance separate from the sifting check. For introducing a new machine, read how to switch a cat to an automatic litter box.

Comparing a petabite formula

Terra is the first cat litter designed for automatic litter boxes and also supports conventional trays. It combines cassava and bentonite. A blend's ingredients alone do not establish approval for every Neakasa model.

Compare the current formula with your machine's requirements. For the wider selection checks, see our guide to cat litter for automatic litter boxes.
